Position Overview

As part of the Westport Multimedia Centre (our in-house media production department), the Graphic / Web Designer will be a critical part in the creation, maintenance, and consistency of graphics and layout for:

• print media (brochures, ads, tradeshow booths, banners),
• presentation materials (MS PowerPoint), and
• internal web properties (Windows SharePoint Services 3.0)

for the entire Westport group of companies. TheGraphic / Web Designer is also a key figure in ensuring the conformance of all materials to brand standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a wide range of printed materials including magazine ads, brochures, standing banners, tradeshow booths, manuals, folders, vehicle graphics, logos, business cards, maps, etc.
• Create and maintain a library of vector illustrations and photos (product photos, technology diagrams, logos, user interface elements, etc.) for both print and web usage
• Create and maintain Microsoft Office templates (Word and PowerPoint)
• Maintain an extensive in-house library of templates, documents, logos and graphics via Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0)
• Liaise with external production facilities to get materials produced and delivered on time and on budget
• Ensure consistency amongst print/web materials with respect to grammar, branding, nomenclature, messaging, etc.

Working with engineers and game designers, you will take designs from conception to the wireframe/spec phase and then all of the way through production. This is a far-ranging design role that will ask you to wear many hats.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Design and help implement all aspects of the web site (html/css/js/php). This includes the sign up flow, profile management, and many aspects of the game UI that are not built into the Flash-based game client.
• Design in-game interactions and interfaces to support new features (e.g. How does an avatar react when picking up a bottle of butterfly lotion? How does the elevator in an apartment building operate?)
• Design the chrome for the Flash-based game client. You will work with Flash engineers to see your designs into production.
• Conduct basic user research tasks.
